9. Social Media Plug-Ins

a) Facebook

We use social plug-ins of the social network Facebook on our website on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR in order to make ourselves better known. For this purpose, we use the “LIKE” or “SHARE” button. This is an offer from Facebook (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA). The underlying advertising purpose is to be considered a legitimate interest within the meaning of the GDPR. Facebook is responsible for the data protection-compliant operation.

When you visit a page of our website that contains such a plug-in, your browser establishes a direct connection to the servers of Facebook. The content of the plug-in is transmitted directly from Facebook to your browser and integrated into the page.

By integrating the plug-ins, Facebook receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have a Facebook account or are not currently logged in to Facebook. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there. If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook can directly associate your visit to our website with your Facebook account. If you interact with the plug-ins, for example by clicking the “LIKE” or “SHARE” button, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The information is also published on Facebook and displayed to your Facebook friends.

Facebook can use this information for the purposes of advertising, market research, and the design of Facebook pages to meet your needs. For this purpose, Facebook creates usage, interest, and relationship profiles, e.g., to evaluate your use of our website with regard to the advertisements displayed to you on Facebook, to inform other Facebook users about your activities on our website, and to provide further services related to the use of Facebook.

If you do not want Facebook to assign the data collected via our website directly to your Facebook account, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website.

For the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as your rights and setting options for protecting your privacy, please refer to Facebook’s privacy policy (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).

b) YouTube

On this page, we also embed YouTube videos. The operator of the corresponding plug-ins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit our page, a connection to YouTube servers is automatically established. YouTube thereby receives personal data, such as your IP address. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your surfing behavior to you personally. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand. When a YouTube video is started, YouTube uses cookies to collect information about user behavior. You can prevent this by blocking the storage of cookies in your browser.

For more information on data protection at “YouTube”, please refer to the provider’s privacy policy at: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/

The plug-ins are marked with an Instagram logo, for example, in the form of an “Instagram camera”. An overview of the Instagram plug-ins and their appearance can be found here:

http://blog.instagram.com/post/36222022872/introducing-instagram-badges

When you visit a page of our website that contains such a plug-in, your browser establishes a direct connection to Instagram’s servers. By integrating the plug-ins, Instagram receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are not currently logged in to Instagram. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to an Instagram server in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged into Instagram, Instagram can directly associate your visit to our website with your Instagram account. If you interact with the plug-ins, for example by clicking the “Instagram” button, this information is also transmitted directly to an Instagram server and stored there. The information is also published on your Instagram account and displayed to your contacts.
